She was…

Wild eyes, a contagious smile. Easily entertained, endlessly energetic. Man, she really was something.

Too smart for her own good, insatiably curious. Fearless, independent, confident, strong. Hopelessly loyal, generous to a fault. Insightful, patient, and honest. She loved to dress up, to perform. She had friends, loves, interests. She had dreams, accomplishments, craved adventure.

She may not have always loved her body, but she always felt like she belonged in it. She was quick to laugh, sure of her words, hopeful about her future. Danger was often a temptation to her, and she reveled in the risk of it. She traveled, she took chances, she would try anything once.

I never appreciated who she was, just what I had, … the ability to be in love with my life.

It hurts to remember who I used to be. The shame that I wasted her potential rages through me. I don’t even know who I am anymore.

I want to be her again.
